Constructed between the 1840s and the 1960s, shophouses are a prevalent building type that form the urban fabric of the old city centre of Singapore and around its fringes. They have been recognized as Singapore’s architectural heritage and are restored and conserved. Shophouses are also commonly found throughout historic cities of Southeast Asia.
Shophouse Tee is a pullover inspired by decorative features of such buildings. The cable design on the front reflects geometric lines of grille shutters, timber shutters and balustrades.
The lace design on the back is inspired by the aesthetics and function of decorative air vents and floor tiles.
