Meri designed this beautiful yarn bowl with a woodcraft artist in Hokkaido, Japan. Each yarn bowl is hand turned out of a chunk of wood - making it very smooth and sturdy. It weighs about 500 grams, just enough to keep the bowl steady while pulling yarn, and is big enough to fit up to a 100 gram cake or ball of Aran weight yarn. The wood is Japanese Birch, a kind of birch that is native to the Hokkaido area, which is different from the white birch that is commonly seen in Europe.
