The Oktoberfest in Munich is the world’s most famous annual beer festival, and it is naturally full of many traditions and rituals.
On opening day, the first barrel of beer is usually tapped by luminaries such as the Bavarian minister-president or the mayor of Munich, and once the first stein of beer is filled, the traditional cry “O’zapft is” (Bavarian dialect for “the barrel is tapped”) will be heard throughout the giant brewery tents.
Bavaria also has a long tradition of intricate sock knitting to compliment the regional costume, and one of the defining elements are the various cable patterns, or “Zopf” designs.
These socks are full of Bavarian flavor and are only available until May 31, 2022!
